BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has instructed party activists to identify individuals spreading misinformation as "Gupto" . During a recent address, he stated, “Many will come to try and confuse you; as soon as you see them, tell them, you are Gupto. Whoever spreads confusing talk will have only one name—Gupto. This is because we have not seen them in the last 16 years; those who fled on the 5th were mixed in with them.”
Responding to these remarks at an election rally in Keraniganj on Saturday, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman criticized the use of such terminology. He remarked, “Leaving aside the past—there is no limit to what many say about who did what in the past, using terms like Gupto, Shupto, and more. Those who were hidden themselves for years are now saying these things about the oppressed. It would be better to look at yourselves before pointing fingers at others. Look at your own face instead of others.”
