The issue comes as Washington continues to pressure Tehran to end its crackdown on protesters, and US President Donald Trump has threatened to attack the Iranian government over the issue.
According to Canadian media outlet CBC News, a warning posted on the US 'Virtual Embassy' website for Iran said, "Leave Iran now."
The news also said, "Have your own plan to leave Iran instead of relying on the help of the US government."
US citizens who are unable to leave Iran have been advised to "remain in safe places", stock up on food and other essentials, and remain aware of their surroundings.
It has also been advised to use the borders of Armenia, Türkiye and Turkmenistan and avoid Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan.
