The Forest Department has arrested a youth on charges of hunting deer in the coastal forest of Sitakunda, Chittagong. The incident took place in the Bagachatar Sagarpar area of Saidpur Union of the upazila on Wednesday afternoon. The youth was later handed over to the Kotwali Police Station.
The arrested youth is named Mohammad Sajeeb (28). He is a resident of that union.
The Forest Department said that at around 3 pm yesterday, a raid was conducted in the forest about one and a half kilometers deep from the embankment in the area under the Bagachatar Beit and Sajeeb was arrested along with deer meat. At least six people with him fled at that time. They had hunted the deer with the intention of selling the meat. The deer meat and head were recovered in the raid. The recovered meat was preserved by applying kerosene oil. The meat, head and bones will be buried in the presence of the administration today, Thursday.
