The court has granted remand to the father accused of raping and strangling an 11-year-old girl in Rangabali Upazila of Patuakhali. The investigation officer of the case, Rangabali Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Sohan Ahmed, presented the accused at the Rangabali Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday afternoon and applied for remand. Later, Judge Md. Dolon Hasan ordered a two-day remand for the accused.
Earlier on Monday, the main accused in the case, Rubel Pyada (35), was arrested and produced before the court. At that time, the accused gave a confessional statement implicating the child's father in the rape and murder of the child. After recording the statement of the accused, the court ordered him to be sent to jail. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Mohammad Sajedul Islam informed about the matter in a press release on Monday night.
