Dr. Tasnim Jara's nomination papers for Dhaka-9 were rejected on January 3, 2026, despite required signatures, due to discrepancies in voter verification. The Returning Officer found many signatories not listed in the constituency's electoral roll.

Tasnim Jara, a former NCP leader running independently, plans to appeal, calling errors unintentional. She collected over 5,000 signatures but faces strict rules for independents.

Tasnim Zara said, "10 people were randomly selected from the list of 1 percent of voters submitted with the nomination papers. Eight of those verified said they had signed the documents; one could not be reached on phone, and another said he was not a voter in this area." She also said “I have the opportunity to appeal, I am preparing to appeal.”
