A local youth leader has been accused of beheading a woman named Hazera Begum while campaigning for a candidate in Bhola's Char Fashion. It is reported that the woman's 9-month-old pregnant daughter was severely beaten and kicked in the stomach when she tried to save her mother.The incident took place on Monday morning (January 19) in Ward No. 1 of Dakshin Aicha Char Manika Union of the upazila. The accused, Shahabuddin (37), is the son of Shahadat Hawladar of the area and is the leader of the union's Jubo Dal.Hazera Begum, who is undergoing treatment at Char Fashion Upazila Health Complex, alleged that on Sunday, Shahabuddin asked her to go out to seek votes for the paddy sheaf. She refused. The next morning, when she left her house to work for the scale symbol, Shahabuddin stopped her and threatened her. When she ignored the threat, Shahabuddin started abusing and beating her.Hazera Begum also said that when she came forward to protect her during the beating, Shahabuddin and his wife Laiju Begum severely beat her pregnant daughter Lima and kicked her in the stomach. At that time, Shahabuddin tore off her ear and took her jewelry and hit her head with a piece of wood, causing her to faint on the spot. Later, the doctor gave her six stitches on her head and two stitches on her torn ear. Several women and men who witnessed the incident, on condition of anonymity, said that since the July uprising, Shahabuddin has been exerting influence in the area and carrying out occupation and terrorist activities. Due to his political identity, no one dared to speak out against him. Locals alleged that his brother Helal was also involved in the occupation trade in the area by showing political influence.
