On Thursday night, following the death of Sharif Osman bin Hadi, hall parliament leaders announced the hall’s new name amid widespread protests on campus. Around midnight, they put up posters in front of the hall renaming it after Hadi.
Hall Parliament Vice President Md. Muslimur Rahman told the media, “Our Sharif Osman Hadi was martyred while fighting against Indian aggression. Those at whose hands he attained martyrdom—the cultural fascists—are currently hiding in Delhi. The father of these cultural fascists is Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. That is why we want to remove his name and rename the hall after martyr Sharif Osman Hadi.”
