Police have identified individuals involved in the shooting of Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and an independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency, and have intensified operations across the capital to arrest the attackers. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) confirmed that a photograph of one suspect has been released and a reward announced for information leading to arrests.
According to a DMP press release signed by Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman on Saturday (13 December), Osman Hadi was seriously injured in a targeted attack by motorcycle-borne assailants on Friday (12 December) in the Bijoynagar Box Culvert area. Since the incident, police have been conducting extensive raids in different parts of Dhaka.
DMP said CCTV footage analysis has led to the preliminary identification of one attacker. Law enforcement has urged the public to share any information by calling 999, the Motijheel Division DC at 01320040080, or the Paltan Police Station OC at 01320040132. Police assured informants that their identities will remain confidential and confirmed that credible information will be rewarded.
