Khulna witnessed one of its most shocking courthouse attacks in years on Sunday afternoon, as two men were brutally shot and hacked to death outside the District and Sessions Judge Court. The assault unfolded around 12:30pm, when unidentified assailants arrived on motorcycles, opened fire at close range, and struck the victims with machetes before fleeing the scene.
Police identified the deceased as Fazle Rabbi Rajon (35) of Purba Rupsa Bagmara and Hasib (31), whose body was later taken from the hospital by family members. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots before seeing the attackers repeatedly hack the victims as they lay on the ground.
Both men were rushed toward Khulna Medical College Hospital but died before reaching the emergency ward. Dr. Shamim Hasan confirmed multiple bullet wounds on both bodies.
Police say the victims had arrived at the court for a hearing and were previously linked to an arms case, though motives remain unconfirmed. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and have recovered bullet casings, a machete, and several abandoned motorcycles from the scene as the manhunt intensifies.
