Officials said vaults 751 and 753 at Agrani Bank were opened today by a joint team of the CIC and other agencies, following Bangladesh Bank rules. Another vault belonging to the former prime minister at Pubali Bank’s Motijheel branch was also opened, but no assets were found.

The CIC had taken control of the Agrani Bank vault on 17 September and the Pubali Bank vault a week earlier, as part of the NBR’s investigation into alleged tax evasion by Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India on 5 August after the July Uprising. All her bank accounts have already been frozen.

Earlier, on 18 March, a Dhaka court froze over Tk394 crore in 31 accounts linked to Hasina and her family. Before that, the BFIU had identified Tk635.14 crore across 124 frozen accounts connected to her, her relatives, and associated entities. Bangladesh Bank revealed these details during a 10 March meeting on money laundering prevention chaired by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
