The Supreme Court has taken a firm stance against the expanding ‘sugar daddy’ network in Bangladesh—a system where wealthy and influential men exploit financially vulnerable young women through extramarital relationships.
Supreme Court lawyer Md. Mahmudul Hasan issued a legal notice on Tuesday (25 November) to the Home Ministry Secretary, NBR Chairman, and the Inspector General of Police, warning that the network is causing severe mental, social, and digital exploitation.
The notice states that young women are being lured with cash, cars, foreign trips, luxury gifts, and high-end phones—often funded through illicit means. Many are then trapped through secretly recorded obscene photos and videos, leading to blackmail and long-term psychological harm.
The lawyer urged the government to form a national task force involving Home Ministry, police, CID, SB, Cyber Crime Unit, and NBR to take immediate action. Citizens have also been asked to stay alert and report suspicious activities surrounding the network.
