On 17 November 2025, Uttara’s BNS Center witnessed eruptions of demands for the trial of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This public agitation is part of widespread unrest in Bangladesh ahead of the verdict set by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) for Hasina’s trial on crimes against humanity related to the violent crackdown on student-led protests that toppled her government in August 2024. Hasina’s trial verdict, highly anticipated and controversial, has sparked calls for her prosecution and has caused significant political tension and disruptions in Dhaka and other cities, including protests, shutdowns, and heightened security measures.
