A 30-year-old man, Saddam Hossain, was handed over to police by locals in Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla on Saturday morning after allegations surfaced that he sexually assaulted three children. Saddam, son of late Bacchu Mia from Raytola village in Dhamghar union, allegedly lured the children—who were returning from madrasa on November 13—by offering chips and took them to a house.
The incident came to light when one of the victims informed family members, sparking tension in the area. Officer-in-Charge of Muradnagar Police Station, Jahidur Rahman, confirmed the arrest, stating that a case will be filed and the accused will be produced before the court.
Local resident Shamim Ahmed said, “One group was trying to settle the matter through arbitration. We want the maximum punishment for the culprit.”
