Seven units of the Fire Service brought the blaze under control.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate, they received the fire alert at 5:50am on Sunday. Shahjahan Shikder, acting officer of the organization’s media cell, confirmed the development.
He said residents living above the fifth floor were initially taken to the rooftop under the supervision of the Fire Service.
After the flames were contained, they were escorted safelydownstairs via the staircase. A total of 23 people were rescued unharmed while five sustained minor injuries.
