More than 50 cats were rescued from a so-called “cat shelter home” in Narayanganj after Animal Rights BD intervened following reports of extreme neglect.
The flat was filled with filth, feces, and food waste — a horrifying scene of malnourished, dehydrated, and sick cats trapped in unhygienic conditions.

“This wasn’t a shelter. It was just a dumping ground for helpless animals,” said a member of Animal Rights BD.

After repeated local complaints, rescuers safely relocated the cats to proper facilities for medical care and recovery.
This incident highlights the urgent need for stricter animal welfare monitoring and accountability in Bangladesh.
