The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a long-range forecast warning that this winter could be one of the coldest in recent years. Between November 2025 and January 2026, the country may experience as many as 10 cold waves, including three severe ones, mainly hitting the northern and central regions.
The forecast also mentions possible fog, rain, and sudden temperature drops that could disrupt daily life. Meanwhile, two to four low-pressure systems are expected to form over the Bay of Bengal, some potentially developing into depressions or cyclones.
Panchagarh has already recorded Bangladesh’s lowest temperatures for five consecutive days — a clear sign that the cold season has arrived early.
