BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman virtually joined the event where Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha, brother of July Uprising martyr Mir Mugdho, received his party’s primary membership. Senior BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Nazrul Islam Khan were also present along with Snigdha’s father, Mir Mostafizur Rahman.
Party insiders suggest that Snigdha could be a potential BNP nominee for the Dhaka-18 constituency, which covers the greater Uttara area, including the Airport and surrounding wards.
