In Chandina Upazila of Comilla, a tragic family incident occurred when 26-year-old Shahin Munshi allegedly attacked his stepmother, Halima Begum, 34, late Wednesday night at their home in Sabdalpur village under Bataghasi union. The attack involved a sharp weapon, causing severe injuries to Halima, who was initially taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital and subsequently transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries early the following morning.
The incident attracted immediate attention from the police authorities, including the Superintendent of Police, Sarwar Alam, who ordered swift action. Leveraging intelligence and technology, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) apprehended Shahin Munshi from Eliotganj Bazar near the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway within 24 hours of the incident.
According to locals, Shahin's father, Emdadul Haque Munshi, had remarried Halima Begum just about two months ago following the death of his first wife three years prior. The victim's elder brother, Nurul Islam Munshi, filed a case with the Chandina Police Station. The police are currently investigating the matter further.
