Despite rain from Cyclone Montha, Dhaka's air quality remained poor on Thursday, ranking 5th most polluted globally with an AQI of 160, according to IQAir.
Pollution was highest in Becharam Deuri and South Pallabi (AQI 170). IQAir advised residents to wear masks, keep windows closed, and avoid outdoor exercise. Experts warn air pollution cuts Bangladeshis' life expectancy by 5.5 years, with over 272,000 pollution-related deaths in 2019, according to the World Bank.
