Faridpur police claimed to have arrested three men allegedly brought from Dhaka’s Mirpur area to make petrol bombs under the instruction of a local Jubo League activist.The arrest took place yesterday afternoon during a police raid at a house in Brahmanpara village of Bhanga upazila. Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement detained the trio while they were reportedly preparing petrol bombs and seized a large quantity of bomb-making materials from the scene.Among the recovered items were 19 petrol bombs, 17 empty glass bottles, 28 plastic bottles, 245 matchboxes, and various chemicals and tools used in explosive preparation.The arrestees were identified as Md Hossain Raj (22) of Mirpur, Ahmadul Rashid alias Rakib (25) of Chandpur, and Jewel Rana (25) of Sunamganj.Faridpur Superintendent of Police Mohammad Abdul Jalil stated that the suspects had been called to the area by Murad Khan, a local Jubo League activist and reported former gunman of ex-MP Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon. The SP said the explosives were being prepared in connection with possible subversive acts centering the upcoming verdict announcement in the crimes against humanity case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League-declared “lockdown.”Police have termed the activities “anti-government” and “anti-state,” and legal actions are underway.
