hief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has directed authorities to urgently purchase bodycams for law enforcement to ensure a transparent, peaceful, and violence-free national election.
During a high-level meeting on Sunday (28 October), Yunus instructed that the procurement and training process be completed by December, allowing security forces to effectively monitor polling centres in real time.
Home Affairs Adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Special Assistant on ICT Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Home Secretary Nasimul Gani, and IGP Baharul Alam were present at the meeting. Taiyeb confirmed that training with existing bodycams has already begun, while Jahangir Alam noted that officers in all districts will soon receive hands-on training once new devices arrive.
The initiative aims to build voter confidence and strengthen accountability during the election period.
