Bangladesh has achieved a major environmental milestone as its first-ever Miyawaki forest — created in Mirsharai, Chattogram — thrives into a dense green ecosystem in just three years. Using Japan’s revolutionary Miyawaki method, the project transformed 4,400 square feet of land into a lush mini-jungle hosting over 120 species of trees and plants.
The Miyawaki technique allows forests to grow 10 times faster and become 30 times denser, achieving in a decade what natural forests take a century to develop.
Delowar Jahan, founder of the Natural Farming Center, says the project could restore biodiversity and rebuild lost ecosystems across Bangladesh.
Professor Md. Danesh Mia from the University of Chittagong praised the initiative, emphasizing that such projects can revive the natural greenery once common in rural Bangladesh.
