Students from seven government colleges in Dhaka, including Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, organized a long march toward the Education Ministry to demand the swift issuance of the Dhaka Central University Ordinance. The students were frustrated over repeated delays in finalizing this ordinance, which aims to formally establish a new university from their previously affiliated colleges after the government canceled their affiliation with Dhaka University.

The students began their march from their respective campuses, converging near the education ministry on Abdul Gani Road. They emphasized that regardless of the model, the ordinance must be issued without any further delay. The protest was planned as a peaceful march to press their demands.Police took a tough stance on the students' march, intercepting and blocking attempts by students to advance toward the ministry building.
