Police foiled a Jatiya Party (JaPa) workers’ rally in front of the party’s central office in Kakrail, Dhaka, using water cannons, tear gas, and sound grenades to clear the street. Several activists were detained during the clash.
According to Masud Alam, Deputy Commissioner of Ramna Division, JaPa’s application for the rally was not approved, and the party was instructed not to block the public road. Despite repeated warnings, party members reportedly set up chairs and a stage on the street, leading police to intervene.

The situation has drawn attention to ongoing tensions between political parties and law enforcement ahead of upcoming political events.
