UP CM Yogi Adityanath Reportedly Threatens Demolition of Muslim Homes Displaying “I Love Muhammad” Signs
In India’s Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reportedly threatened to demolish homes of Muslims who display signs reading “I Love Muhammad” in front of their houses.
According to reports, authorities have also banned “I Love Muhammad” banners in all Muslim religious processions. Several Muslims have allegedly been beaten and arrested by police for carrying such banners or posters during processions. Additionally, in northern India, police have reportedly fined Muslim youth for having “I Love Muhammad” stickers on their motorbikes.
Videos circulating online show that, following these threats, many Muslims have begun removing the “I Love Muhammad” signs from their homes out of fear of state action.
Meanwhile, thousands of Hindu households across various cities openly display signs such as “Jai Shri Ram,” “Jai Hanuman,” “Har Har Mahadev,” and “Hare Ram Hare Krishna,” which have not faced any objections or restrictions from the BJP-led government.
Critics argue that such actions reflect discriminatory treatment against the Muslim minority under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, where expressions of love for the Prophet Muhammad are being punished, while similar religious expressions by Hindus are freely allowed.
Observers point out that in Western countries like the United States or Europe, no one would face police action for displaying messages like “I Love Jesus.” The situation in India has raised global concerns about religious freedom and minority rights under the current administration.
Commentators further note that Bangladesh, despite frequent allegations from Indian media, does not subject its Hindu minority to such systematic persecution, and no Islamic organization in Bangladesh has been documented committing similar acts of repression against Hindus.
