The government is set to include medical oxygen in the country's essential drugs list soon, Dr Md Sayedur Rahman, special assistant to the chief adviser for the health ministry, announced today (7 October).
Speaking at Bangladesh's first Oxygen Summit in Dhaka, organised by icddr,b, The Lancet Global Health, Every Breath Counts and Unitaid, Sayedur said 29 oxygen plants are operational, while nearly 70 remain non-functional.
An initiative is underway to reactivate these non-functional plants, he added.
