Noakhali to Be Made a Division If BNP Comes to Power: Barkatullah Bulu
BNP Vice Chairman Barkatullah Bulu has announced that Noakhali will be made a separate administrative division if the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) comes to power in the future.
He made the statement on Monday morning while speaking at a press conference held at the National Press Club in Dhaka, organized to demand the establishment of Noakhali Division.
Barkatullah Bulu said that Begum Khaleda Zia, one of the most popular political leaders in the country, is a proud daughter of Greater Noakhali. He further commented that the future of Bangladesh’s prosperous economy will be built around the Noakhali region.

Speakers at the event emphasized that forming a Noakhali Division comprising Noakhali, Feni, Lakshmipur, Chandpur, Cumilla, and Brahmanbaria is both logical and a demand of the time. They pointed out that establishing an administrative division centered around Noakhali — located 170 kilometers from the capital — would transform the coastal region into a powerful economic zone.
They also highlighted the region’s Blue Economy potential, noting that the vast maritime resources in the southern Noakhali area could play a significant role in driving Bangladesh’s future economic growth. To harness this immense potential, the speakers said, establishing Noakhali Division is essential.
The event was presided over by M.A. Khan Belal, President of the Noakhali District Association in Dhaka. Among others present were Abdul Mabud, General Secretary of the Dhaka-based Noakhali District Association, K.M. Mozammel Haque, Senior Vice President, and representatives from the Feni and Lakshmipur District Associations.
