Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, The Finance Adviser for the Interim Government of Bangladesh, is optimistic of recovering a portion of laundered money by February 2026.
He says, "Money Launderers are incredibly clever. Repatriating the assets takes time. Yet we've made some progress. Discussions are ongoing with different legal institutions to facilitate the process. By February of next year some money may return. We are preparing the groundwork for the rest."
"The Bangladesh Bank Governor will speak on the exact figure of how much money will be possible to be rescued by February", he added.
He further emphasised that no government can avoid the proceedings incorporating the recovery of laundered money, responding to a question asked whether the elected government would continue the initiative.
