Dr Babar Ali has made history as the first Bangladeshi to climb an 8,000-metre peak without supplemental oxygen, reaching the summit of Mount Manaslu in Nepal. Joining him was Tanvir Ahmed, who achieved the feat on his debut 8,000m expedition. The expedition, organised by Vertical Dreamers under the "Manaslu Ascent: Vertical Duo" banner, began from Bangladesh on September 5, with the climbers reaching the top on September 26. Babar, already a seasoned mountaineer with Everest, Lhotse, and Annapurna I summits, fulfilled his dream of climbing without oxygen, while Tanvir demonstrated that success is possible even without formal international training. The red-and-green flag of Bangladesh was proudly flown twice on the summit, symbolising national achievement and inspiring future climbers.
