Israel has launched its “most powerful strike” yet in Yemen, bombing Houthi security, intelligence, and military sites in Sanaa.
The Houthi-run health ministry reported 8 dead and 142 injured, accusing Israel of deliberately targeting civilian facilities — calling it a “war crime.”
The attack came a day after a Houthi drone strike on Israel’s Red Sea city of Eilat injured 22 people.
The Israeli military said the strikes targeted the Houthis’ General Staff HQ, intelligence compounds, and weapons storage camps, vowing more operations ahead.
The strikes hit just moments before a speech by Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi, while smoke and destruction spread across residential districts in Sanaa.
The Houthis, who have controlled much of northwestern Yemen for a decade, say their attacks on Israel and Red Sea shipping are acts of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. This marks the latest escalation in a conflict that now spans Gaza, the Red Sea, and Yemen, raising fears of wider regional fallout.
