In a crucial move to combat the dengue outbreak, the health ministry has announced that all government hospitals nationwide will now offer free dengue NS1 tests.Currently, tests cost Tk50 at government hospitals and Tk300 in private ones. But with free testing now in place, officials hope more people will get diagnosed early — reducing delays, ensuring timely treatment, and ultimately saving lives.The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) emphasized that many dengue-related deaths occurred because patients reached hospitals too late. Free testing is expected to encourage quicker hospital visits, enabling doctors to detect and treat cases in time.This initiative will continue until 30 November, subject to finance ministry approval.
