A 74-year-old retired Indian Air Force soldier named Mohan Lal from Konchi village, Gaya district, Bihar, staged his own death by organizing a fake funeral ceremony while still alive. He lay on a decorated bier and was carried with all funeral rituals, along with emotional songs and hundreds of villagers attending the procession. Upon reaching the cremation ground, he suddenly got up, shocking everyone.
Mohan Lal said he wanted to see who would come to his funeral and how much respect and affection people genuinely had for him while he was alive. Through this unique act, he aimed to emphasize the value of appreciation for living persons rather than only mourning after death. He is known for his social service, including building a crematorium in his village to ease funeral difficulties.
