A 50-year-old farmer, Mohammad Mozammel, was beaten to death in Gazipur’s Kapasia upazila after being accused of theft.
Witnesses say 10-12 locals dragged him to a house and assaulted him with sticks. His cousin claimed the attackers had personal disputes with him.
Despite being taken to two hospitals, Mozammel succumbed to his injuries the same evening.
His grieving wife, left with two sons and a daughter, asked: “Now that he has been killed, where will I go with my children?”
Police have sent the body for autopsy and assured legal action after investigation.
