Three people, including a woman who allegedly protested in front of BNP leader Fazlur Rahman's house and chanted abusive slogan in August, were arrested and sent to jail on charges of extortion in Uttara on Thursday.

AHM Noman Reza, 29, Tanjeel Hossain, 25, and Faria Akter Toma, 20, were arrested on Friday evening (September 12) in Uttara Jashimuddin area, Uttara West Police Station's Sub-Inspector Alamgir Raihan confirmed The Daily Star.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan on Friday passed the order after Uttara West Police Sub-Inspector Abdul Malek Khan, the investigating officer, produced them before the court seeking their confinement until the probe is complete.
