On Sunday (14 September) morning, agitated students hung several screenshots at the gate of Naogaon Government College.
The screenshots appeared to show Principal Shamsul Haque making inappropriate requests to female students, including asking to see them without scarves. Parents have demanded punitive action against the accused, pending verification of the viral screenshots.
One of the screenshots circulating on Facebook allegedly shows Principal Shamsul Haque praising a student’s beauty and then asking, “Do you have prettier pictures?” When the student replied, “No, sir. I’m not beautiful,” he allegedly responded, “Yes, you do without the scarf.” The student wrote back, “No, sir, sorry.” The principal then reportedly said, “I’ve seen you at college,” to which she replied, “No, sir, I’m sorry.” Finally, he wrote, “Okay, I’ll see you soon. Take good care. Bye.”
Another screenshot allegedly shows the principal commenting “Extremely wonderful” on a twelfth-grade student’s Facebook story. In a Messenger note dated March 31, the student had set a Hindi song with the caption, “It’s very necessary to keep distance from some people.” Shamsul Haque reportedly replied, “Am I one of them?”
