Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) President Rakibul Islam has accused Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir of gathering around Dhaka University campus with arms and warned that any untoward incident today will be their responsibility. During a heated meeting with DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan at the Senate building, Rakibul alleged that Jamaat has proven itself a terrorist organization and criticized the administration for being “Jamaatised” and weak toward them.
Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin claimed that Jamaat-Shibir activists are stationed at eight points on campus to carry out destructive activities. In response, VC Niaz Ahmed Khan said the administration and police, including Rab and Swat, were on alert and that new actions were taken after learning of the gatherings.
The situation highlights rising tensions at DU, with JCD leaders insisting they will continue their protests against the administration if preventive measures are not strengthened.
