During the vote counting of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election, vice president (VP) candidate Sadiq Kayem, backed by the Islami Chhatra Shibir-supported panel, was seen entering the Dhaka University Club Center.

Witnesses reported that he entered the center around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, accompanied by panel member candidate Raihan Uddin. Despite repeated phone calls, Sadiq could not be reached for comment.

Speaking to The Business Standard, Raihan Uddin said, “We went as far as the area where the vote-counting process was being displayed on LED screens. We did not know it was prohibited to enter further. We asked if entry was allowed, and a staff member escorted us inside. At that time, Rafia Rehnuma Hridi, VP candidate from Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall, and Nabiha, VP candidate from Bangamata Hall, also entered with us.”

He added, “Shortly after we entered, the returning officer in charge informed us that staying inside was not permitted. We then left immediately.”
