On the night before the DUCSU election, campus security and police caught a man trying to enter Dhaka University using a fake ID card made in Nilkhet. The card looked real at first, but it was found to be fake during a check at the Officer Tower gate. When questioned, the man said he just wanted to see what the election was like, and he got the ID with help from a friend who works at the university. The police took him away, and some surprising selfies were also taken during the incident.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali spoke at a press meeting at the TSC. He said 1,771 police officers were on campus to keep things safe, and 2,096 plainclothes officers were working for election day. He promised that nothing bad would happen and everyone was safe. The police are still checking the man’s identity and investigating what happened, as security is very tight for the DUCSU election.
