Chief District Officer Rudradevi Sharma has imposed a curfew in Pokhara, Nepal, starting from 2:00 p.m. Monday until further notice, limiting movement and public gatherings in key areas including Shahid Chowk, Vai Chowk, Fistel Chowk, Malpot Office, and Rastriya Bank Chowk.
The directive, issued under Nepal’s Local Administration Act 2028 (Section 6, Sub-article 3A), prohibits travel, gatherings of more than five people, protests, demonstrations, processions, meetings, and picketing within the designated zone.
This move comes amid rising Gen Z-led protests in Nepal against corruption and the government’s social media restrictions. Similar bans were earlier enforced in Kathmandu, where protests led to injuries, deaths, and deployment of security forces.
