Inflation in Bangladesh eased to 8.29% in August — the lowest in 37 months — down from 8.55% in July, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics. The decline was largely due to a drop in non-food prices, though food inflation edged up slightly to 7.60%. Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali (Yunus) noted that the government’s measures, including market monitoring, import facilitation, and targeted subsidies, have contributed to easing inflationary pressure. Economists, however, caution that persistent volatility in food prices and global markets remains a risk.
