Following City Bank’s pioneering launch of Google Pay in June 2025, several more banks in Bangladesh are preparing to roll out the service within the next six months.
City Bank, in partnership with Google, Mastercard, and Visa, became the first bank in Bangladesh to enable customers to link their Mastercard and Visa cards to Google Wallet, allowing fast, secure, and contactless payments both locally and internationally through NFC-enabled POS terminals.
This move is seen as a major leap toward a cashless digital economy, with goals of enhancing financial inclusion and ensuring transaction transparency. By the end of 2025, multiple banks across the country are expected to adopt Google Pay, bringing Bangladesh in line with global digital payment trends.
