Dhaka University has suspended Ali Husen, a sociology student, for six months following his offensive remarks and rape threats directed at a female student on Facebook.
The decision was made based on the recommendations of an investigative committee appointed by the proctor’s office, according to a press release issued today by Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, acting director of the university’s public relations office.
The release stated that Ali Husen’s use of abusive language and social media threats against the female student led to this disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, the case has been forwarded to the university’s anti-sexual harassment cell for further investigation.
