A Dhaka tribunal has sentenced a 55-year-old caretaker to life imprisonment for repeatedly raping a 13-year-old girl in South Keraniganj's Aganagar area in 2021. The verdict was delivered on 3 September by Judge Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman of the Dhaka Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4, according to prosecutors. The court also imposed a fine of Tk 100,000, with an additional year in prison in default.
According to the case file, the convict worked as a caretaker at the girl's residence and first assaulted her after luring her to the rooftop on 2 August 2021, then raped her again on 23 September the same year after intimidation. The victim later informed her family, and a case was filed at the local police station the following day. Police submitted the charge sheet on 31 August 2022 after investigation.
The tribunal recorded testimonies from multiple witnesses before announcing the judgment and issued a sentence warrant sending the convict to jail. The court directed that the fine be realized
