Awami League Procession in Dhanmondi; Reports of Cocktail Explosion
Leaders and activists of the banned Awami League staged a procession at Dhanmondi 27 in the capital, during which a cocktail explosion was reported.
Eyewitnesses said the procession took place around 3:30 pm on Sunday (31 August) in the Dhanmondi 27 area.
Speaking on the matter, Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kasyanyu Marma said:
“We came to know that Awami League activists brought out a procession in Dhanmondi 27 around 3:30 pm. We received the information at about 3:45 pm. However, as they usually march for a very short time, police did not find anyone on the spot upon arrival.”
Regarding the explosion, the OC added:
“We also heard about a cocktail blast, but it is not confirmed yet. We are investigating the matter in detail.”
