Local police in New York have arrested a man in connection with an egg-throwing incident targeting Akhtar Hossain, a member of the delegation of Interim Government chief Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Secretary of the National Citizen's Party (NCP).
The arrested individual, identified as Mizan Chowdhury, is reportedly a worker of the Awami League. Police apprehended him from the Jackson Heights area in a raid conducted within five hours of the incident at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).
The information was confirmed by Gias Ahmed, a New York-based member of the BNP's National Executive Committee, and Md. Asaduzzaman, former president of the Kushtia District Association-USA.
According to Bangladeshi expatriates in the United States, Mizan Chowdhury, the Awami League worker who threw eggs at NCP's Akhtar Hossain at JFK Airport, is originally from Zakiganj, Sylhet.
