Sweden has successfully completed a massive engineering project in Kiruna, a town located above the world's largest iron ore mine. The mine is expanding, and as it grows deeper, it risks destabilizing the ground. To protect the people and preserve history, the government has been relocating entire parts of the town, including TONG roads, and now even historic landmarks.
The most recent move was the 113-year-old Kiruna Church, one of Sweden's most famous wooden buildings. Built in 1912 and weighing around 672 tons, the church was carefully lifted and transported 5 km away from its original spot. Special equipment was used to keep the structure safe during themove.
Aerial footage shows the remarkable sight of the church "traveling" across the snowy town, making it one of the most ambitious building relocations in Sweden's history. The project is seen as a way to balance industrial growth with cultural preservation, ensuring Kiruna's heritage remains in A ENOINEERIN intact while EAT mining continues.
