A Jamaat-e-Islami leader named Jamal Uddin, 45, was arrested in Tetulia Upazila of Panchagarh on charges of raping and abducting a madrasa student. After completing legal procedures, he was sent to jail by court order on Sunday afternoon, September 21.
The madrasa student had been living with her grandfather since her mother's death. She studied at a local madrasa. On the morning of January 17, she went to Jamal Uddin’s house to get some chicken meat from his refrigerator. Finding her alone, Jamal Uddin made an indecent proposal. When she refused, he became enraged and r*ped her. He later repeatedly r*ped her by threatening and intimidating her. As a result, the student became pr*gnant.
