Today, in connection with the murder case of Asadul Haque Babu in Jatrabari, police have requested a seven-day remand for content creator Tawhid Afridi, son of Nasir Uddin Sathi, the chairman of the private TV channel My TV. Inspector Khan Md. Erfan, the CID investigating officer, confirmed this information on Monday. Tawhid Afridi was arrested from Barisal late Sunday night.

According to the case details, on August 5 last year, Asadul Haque Babu was shot by the accused while participating in an anti-discrimination movement in Jatrabari. He was declared dead by doctors after being taken to the hospital. The victim’s father, Zainal Abedin, filed a murder case at Jatrabari Police Station on August 30, naming 25 individuals as accused, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

In the FIR, Tawhid Afridi is listed as the 11th accused, while his father, Nasir Uddin, is the 22nd accused. In this same case, Nasir Uddin was arrested in Dhaka’s Gulshan area on August 17. A five-day remand was granted for him on August 18, and he was sent to jail on August 23.
