Thalapathy Vijay Targets BJP, Launches Campaign for 2026 Tamil Nadu Elections in South Indian
Thalapathy Vijay has declared a political offensive against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP as he gears up for the 2026 Tamil Nadu state elections. Speaking at the second state conference of his party, Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam, in Madurai, Vijay confirmed his party will contest independently, ruling out any alliances.
Vijay labeled the BJP his “ideological enemy” and the ruling DMK his “political enemy,” vowing to challenge both in the upcoming polls. With fiery rhetoric, he likened himself to a lion “destined to lead” and insisted that Tamils would never side with the BJP.
Analysts view the move as an attempt to establish his party as a third front in Tamil Nadu politics, breaking the dominance of DMK and AIADMK. This will be Vijay’s first major electoral test since launching Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam last year.
