First-Year Student Mudabbir Rahman to Contest DUCSU VP Post as Independent Candidate
Md. Mudabbir Rahman, a first-year student of the History Department and resident of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, has announced his candidacy for the vice president (VP) position in the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections. He will contest as an independent candidate.
In a statement shared on social media on Friday (22 August), Mudabbir said his decision to run is not driven by a pursuit of power, but by a commitment to responsibility, solutions, and unity. His manifesto is centered on the theme: “DUCSU will be about action, not words.”
Placing special emphasis on the security and dignity of female students, Mudabbir has pledged to introduce a “Women’s Safety and Dignity Package.” He also promised to ensure that women hold more than 50 percent representation in DUCSU activities.
If elected VP, Mudabbir said he will implement a 30–60–90 day roadmap, quarterly public reports, and open town hall sessions to ensure transparency and accountability. His core leadership principle, he noted, will be to safeguard the security, dignity, and leadership opportunities of students.
In a special message to female students, Mudabbir wrote: “Nearly 48 percent of our students are women. Without ensuring their safety, seats, health, and leadership, DUCSU can never be complete. I promise not just words but results—within a clear timeline.”
He further added: “My commitments are threefold—proof through action, not words; results, not files; and delivery within deadlines, not empty promises.”
